The is the story of Cassandra Rainbow, who has been held in captivity since her parents were killed in front of her when she was 5 years old. Now, eight years later, she is rescued by her Uncle Gerome, an uncle she didn't know about. She goes to live with Gerome and his wife Maggie in a compound with other Weavers, like them. Having been in captivity since she was a child, it takes her some time to adjust to her new found freedom, and to understand who, and what, she is. Even though she is only thirteen, she decides that she will try to stop a civil war and kill the man who held her captive and murdered her parents. That would be enough for any teenage girl to deal with, but Cassandra also has to get used to the idea of a twin sister she never knew she had. An invisible twin, who lives in the web and talks to Cassandra inside of her head. When her uncle brings home a friend from another planet, things really start to get interesting....

A unique premise, and a good start to a new young adult series.

Warning to younger readers - there are a few brief scenes describing inappropriate and unwelcome touching near the beginning that might be disturbing.

Chimera The Weaver Series Book 1 eBook Vaun Murphrey Todd Barselow DeWanna Pace Reviews

Just finished, and I must admit I found myself caught up in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it any lover of sci-fi and fantasy. I look forward to continuing the series and following the adventures of Cassandra/Silver. Great read, worth the time investment!
Boring not enough excitement in the book
I'd no idea what to expect when I first started on this series. I love a good sci-fi read, and the author is the sister of a high school friend of mine. So, I dove in headfirst, and was far from disappointed. In the first 5 pages I found myself disturbed, and uncomfortable. That's an amazing sign! I finished the book in little more than 2 days, and immediately got the sequel.
Each book makes this story better.
I have read all 3 books and can’t wait to read book 4.

(Without giving anything away) ---Each book follows this young girl, Cass, as she grows up. She faces traumatic events and doesn’t fall apart. She is strong and copes the best she can. I love how this character changes in each book with the challenges she faces. As a reader, I have especially enjoyed the relationships she builds with other characters during her journey.

Well done!
I loved CHIMERA! The entire series has been great fun to read. My daughter has read them with me as well and she can't get enough. She has started re-reading the first one again because she didn't want to be done with the series yet. Vaun Murphrey has developed great characters and an exciting plot. Can't wait to read more!
I had no idea what to expect when I dove into Chimera and it was an absolute thrilling read! I enjoyed the fresh concept and have never read anything quite like it. The characters and world building were very well done. I was completely sucked into the story, its Web, and can't wait to devour the rest of the Weaver Series!
I believe the Sci-Fi world has a new star in their galaxy. Vaun Murphrey has written the first book of a promising series with skills beyond that of most debut authors. Chimera presents with characters and situations that captures readers by the heart and pulls them in to the world Murphrey has built. It's a world like no other. I recommend Chimera to any readers who enjoy Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and new types of adventure.

That being said, it may be difficult to stop looking at the stunning cover in order to begin reading. Give Chimera a try.
